SEO and AI search

Be found on Google, and named when people ask AI.

More and more people ask ChatGPT, Gemini or Google's AI for answers instead of clicking through results. I help shops and local businesses in Cyprus and Greece show up in both places, in Greek and English.

Search has changed

SEO gets you ranked. GEO gets you recommended.

GEO means Generative Engine Optimisation. You may also hear AEO (answer engine optimisation) or AI SEO. It is the work of making sure AI tools understand your business, trust it and mention it when someone asks a question you can answer.

  • Google Search
  • Google AI Overviews
  • Google AI Mode
  • ChatGPT
  • Gemini
  • Perplexity
  • Microsoft Copilot
  • Google Maps

SEO

Rank in search results

  • Someone types "physio Strovolos" into Google
  • You want to be in the top results and on the map
  • Success is clicks, calls and sales from search

GEO

Get named in AI answers

  • Someone asks ChatGPT "who is a good physio in Strovolos?"
  • You want your business named and linked in the answer
  • Success is mentions, citations and visits from AI tools

They are not two separate jobs. AI tools lean on the same things Google rewards: a fast, clear site, honest answers, good reviews and a business that other trusted sites talk about. So I do them together.

The foundations

Four parts of good SEO.

Technical SEO

Make sure Google and AI crawlers can find, read and trust every page that matters.

  • Crawling and indexing
  • Speed and mobile
  • Redirects and sitemaps

Category and product pages

The pages that sell, written for both shoppers and search.

  • Titles, meta and headings
  • Intro copy and FAQs
  • Internal links

Local SEO

Show up when people nearby search for what you do.

  • Google Business Profile
  • Location pages
  • Maps and reviews

Content

Guides and answers that people actually search for, in English or Greek.

  • Keyword research
  • Buyer's guides
  • Search Console tracking
AI search (GEO)

Four parts of showing up in AI answers.

Answers AI can quote

Clear, direct answers to the questions your customers ask, written so AI tools can lift and cite them.

  • Question-led pages and FAQs
  • Short, factual summaries
  • Prices, areas and hours spelled out

Structured data and clear business details

Tell machines exactly who you are, what you do and where, with no guessing.

  • Schema for business, products and FAQs
  • Consistent name, address and phone
  • An llms.txt file for AI tools

Mentions and reviews

AI trusts what others say about you. I help you earn the right mentions.

  • Reviews on Google and beyond
  • Local directories and press
  • Listings on the sites AI reads

AI visibility tracking

See where you appear today, and whether it gets better month by month.

  • Regular checks in ChatGPT, Gemini and Perplexity
  • AI Overview tracking
  • Visits from AI tools in GA4
Google set-up and care

The three free Google tools every business needs.

Most businesses have them half set up, or not at all. I set them up properly, connect them and keep them looked after, so you can see who finds you and what they do next.

Google Business Profile

Your listing on Google Maps and in local search. Often the first thing people see.

  • Set-up, verification and categories
  • Photos, services, hours and posts
  • Getting and answering reviews
  • Calls, directions and clicks each month

Google Search Console

Shows how Google sees your site and which searches bring people in.

  • Set-up and verification
  • Sitemaps and indexing checks
  • Fixing errors Google reports
  • The searches, clicks and pages that matter

Google Analytics 4

Shows what people do on your site, and which visits turn into calls, bookings or sales.

  • Set-up, or a clean fix of a messy one
  • Key events: calls, forms, WhatsApp, sales
  • Visits from ads, Google, social and AI tools
  • Linked to Google Ads and Search Console

Everything stays in your own Google account. I work with access you give me, and you can see it all.

Ecommerce SEO

SEO for online shops, from someone who ran one.

Shops win or lose on their category and product pages. I optimise them in steady monthly batches, in English and Greek, for retailers in Cyprus. A batch can be up to 40 category pages a month, each with a clear intro, FAQs and a proper title and meta description.

I also look after the parts most shops forget: free product listings on Google, filters that create thousands of useless pages, and buyer's guides that send people straight to the right category.

  • Category and product page copy, titles, meta and FAQs
  • Product, review and breadcrumb schema
  • Google Merchant Center: product feeds and free listings
  • Filters, pagination and duplicate pages under control
  • Internal links from guides and menus to the pages that sell
  • Buyer's guides and "best of" articles that rank and get quoted by AI
Greek SEO

Greek SEO, written in Greek.

People in Cyprus and Greece search in more than one way: with accents, without accents, in Greeklish or in English. They also use different words in each market. A page translated from English misses most of that.

Greek is my first language, so I research each market on its own and write Greek pages that read like they were written in Greek. That helps with Google and with AI answers, which both prefer clear, natural language.

  • One city:ΛευκωσίαλευκωσιαLefkosiaNicosia
  • One product:κινητά τηλέφωνακινηταkinitamobile phones
  • Two markets:.com.cy.grseparate research for each

Earning the kind of mentions that Google and AI tools trust, without spam.

Where I do this

Search is part of my day job.

I am a Performance & SEO Specialist at OnlySEO, where I work on search and paid media for brands every day, including how they appear in AI answers.

Much of that work is ecommerce SEO for retailers in Cyprus: monthly batches of category pages in English and Greek, buyer's guides and on-page fixes.

Through costas.digital I have also built websites for local businesses in Cyprus with local SEO from the start: clear service pages, the right language versions, structured data and Google Maps.

Before that, my years running retail sales and marketing at Bionic taught me which pages bring in sales and which just bring in visits.

How it works

From audit to steady growth.

  1. Audit

I check your site, Search Console and analytics, and ask ChatGPT, Gemini and Perplexity the questions your customers ask, to see who they recommend today.

  2. Research

I find the words people search and the questions they ask AI, in each language and each market.

  3. Fix and write

We fix the technical problems first, add structured data, then improve the pages and answers that can sell the most.

  4. Track and repeat

Every month I report rankings, clicks, AI mentions and sales from search, then plan the next batch.

What you get

Work you can see.

  • An SEO and AI visibility audit, with fixes ranked by impact
  • Keyword and question research in English and Greek
  • Ready-to-use titles, meta descriptions, page copy and FAQs
  • Structured data (schema) and an llms.txt file set up
  • Local SEO and Google Business Profile for each location
  • A simple monthly report: Search Console, GA4 and AI answer checks
Good fit

Who this is for.

  • Online shops with many categories and products
  • Clinics, studios and local services
  • Businesses that need a site in more than one language
  • Anyone who wants to be the answer when customers ask AI
  • Anyone paying for ads who wants free traffic too
Questions

Things people often ask.

What is GEO?

GEO stands for Generative Engine Optimisation. It means making your business easy for AI tools like ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity and Google AI Overviews to understand, trust and recommend when someone asks a question.

Is SEO dead now that people use AI?

No. AI tools still read the web, and they lean on the same signals as Google: good pages, clear answers, reviews and trusted mentions. Strong SEO is the base that GEO is built on.

Can you get my business into ChatGPT answers?

Nobody can promise a mention, because the AI decides. What I can do is give it every good reason to name you: clear answers, structured data, reviews and mentions on sites it trusts. Then I track whether it works.

How do you measure AI visibility?

I check the questions your customers ask in ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity and Google every month, note when you are named or linked, and track visits from AI tools in GA4.

Can you set up Google Business Profile, Search Console and Analytics?

Yes. I set up or fix all three, connect them to each other and to Google Ads, and add the numbers that matter to your monthly report. Everything stays in your own Google account.

Do you do SEO for online shops?

Yes, it is most of what I do. I optimise category and product pages in monthly batches, set up product schema and Google Merchant Center, and write buyer's guides that lead to the right categories.

Can you help when we move to a new website?

Yes. I map old pages to new ones, set up redirects, check everything before and after launch and watch Search Console, so you keep the traffic you have.

Which platforms do you work with?

Mostly WordPress, WooCommerce and custom sites. The basics of good SEO work on any platform, so ask me about yours.

How long does SEO take?

Technical fixes can help within weeks. Ranking for competitive searches usually takes months of steady work, and I will be honest about that from the start.

Do you write content in Greek?

Yes. Greek is my first language, so Greek pages are written in natural Greek, not translated from English.

Can you help with a site in several languages?

Yes. The client sites I built run in up to three languages, each set up so search engines show the right version to the right people.

Will you guarantee first place on Google?

No, and nobody honest can. What I can promise is clear work, clear reports and pages that deserve to rank.
