Cafes
Good coffee away from the busy streets.
An app for the places most visitors miss: village tavernas, mountain villages, wineries and the bars locals love.
In development
Most travel apps show the same top ten places. LocalSpots looks for the spots with character: a family winery on a quiet road, a taverna in a mountain village, a small museum nobody told you about.
It starts with four kinds of places, and it will grow from there.
Good coffee away from the busy streets.
Where locals actually go out.
Along the island's wine routes.
Small collections with big stories.
An app like this is only as good as its data. So the data came first.
Place data comes from Google Places, collected with a grid search across the island. It lands in one clean SQLite database, which is the single source of truth for the app. Every month the data is refreshed, so closed places drop off and new ones appear.
I built it free-tier first: use what costs nothing, and only pay when the app needs it. Events will be added in stages, once the places are solid.
A tidy place database and a tidy product feed for Google Shopping are the same job. Get the data right and the ads get easier.
Mapping hundreds of places shows how people search nearby. It feeds straight into local SEO for clinics and shops.
Four categories first, events later. I plan client projects the same way, so you see results early.
Free-tier first keeps costs low until the numbers say otherwise. Your budget gets the same respect.
There is no launch date yet. The app is in development, and the data work is well under way.

From Google Places data, collected across Cyprus, stored in one database and refreshed every month.
